It’s Panto time…. oh no it isn’t… oh yes it is!

Dick WhittingtonThe Cliffites are back with their version of the classic clevelandbrownsjerseys pantomime, Dick Whittington.  This year has a real community feel as it’s jam-packed with local families and familiar faces.  Written by Lindley-based Stephanie Potts, who also takes the role of the nasty Queen Rat, the show is a fun-filled extravaganza of music and dance.  Stephanie is joined by her mum, Director Donna Morgan, and her dad, Stephen Morgan who plays Sarah The Cook.  Carrying on the family feel, Tim Potter (one half of the ratty duo, Sharkey and Bones) takes to the stage with his two daughters, Hannah and Katie, who plays Tommy the Cat.  And then there are the Simpsons (Kenny and his daughter Madeleine), the Faircloughs (Audrey and daughter Amber) and our wonderful sisters, Katie and Isabelle Wignall and Lesley Green and Suzie Blackburn.  We have trouble remembering which he is a she, which she is a he and who is related to who!

Matthew Wilson from Birkby takes the title role of Dick Whittington and there’s the welcome return of Tracey Kaye as the Fairy, Ian Woodcock as the Alderman and John Green as the Captain.   Greenhead College student Thomas Ramsden plays Idle Jack.  Our junior chorus is made up of children from many of the local schools including Lindley and Reinwood and we are joined by Dance Arena Ballet and Stage School.

Dick Whittington runs from Tuesday 25th February to Saturday 1st March at Birchencliffe Community Centre, Halifax Road, Birchencliffe.  Evening Performances at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.  Proceeds from ticket sales on Tuesday evening are going to The Joseph Salmon Trust.  Call Ann Dyson on 01484 357537.
